Pain

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[i] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The hardest thing about doing the right thing is doing it in opposition to people you care about. And it's even harder when the person you are in opposition to isn't a Christian and doesn't understand this concept. It's the hardest when it's your close family that says, "See it my way or never see me again." But you don't see it their way. You see it God's way. And you choose God over your family.

It isn't hard to love people who hate you. It's hard to let them go when they turn their back on you.
